Dead Heavy Fantastic
March 11 – April 2
Robert Farquhar’s new comedy Dead Heavy Fantastic promises to deliver a wild night out to Everyman stage.
Liverpool playwright Robert Farquhar will illuminate the stage of the Everyman with a raucous new comedy set across one wild night out in Liverpool. Dead Heavy Fantastic, directed by Matt Wilde (On Tour, Lost Monsters) is at the Everyman from Friday 11 March to Saturday 2 April. The cast includes Alan Stocks, Stephen Fletcher, Michelle Butterly, Helen Carter and Jess Schofield.
It's always been mad in Liverpool on a Friday night. You can find sex, drugs and karaoke. Find the world in one city. Find your youth and lose a friend amidst the hens and stags.
As he waits for his blind date, lonely heart Frank has no idea of the mad, bad and deadly dangerous rollercoaster ride he’s about to get on. The woman Frank most desires keeps eluding him and what’s more his night out keeps getting weirder and weirder as he sways from jealous ex-boyfriends to emergency wards via Concert Square and a song or two.
Liverpool favorite Alan Stocks (Scouse Pacific, Ladies Night Royal Court, Tartuffe Liverpool Playhouse) is sure to bring some comedy sparkle to the role of Frank, while Liverpool actress Michelle Butterly (Casualty BBC, Noughts and Crosses RSC) plays Maureen, the object of Frank’s affections.
The fantastic ensemble of local talent is sure to put a smile on your face and a song in your heart.
Robert Farquhar gripped audiences with A Word Does Not Exist as part of the Everyman’s Anthology season last year. His work is informed by modern life, while his influences range from Monty Python to Alan Bennett. Robert’s play Bad Jazz won critical acclaim when it premiered in 2006 while his work with Liverpool’s Big Wow theatre company, who regularly appear at the Unity Theatre, includes the award-winning Insomnobabble and The Friendship Experiment.
The production combines a revolving set, which transports the characters around many different locations in the city in this fast paced comedy, with video sequences from vibrant Liverpool nightspots. Simon Daw’s ambitious design sees him collaborate once more with director Matt Wilde (On Tour) after the pair worked on Lost Monsters at the Everyman in 2009.
