Vooduo start their search to find Liverpool's hair stylist of the year
One of city’s longest standing hairdressing brands Voodou is holding a widespread competition this month to find Liverpool’s Hairstylist of the Year.
The company, which has had a presence in Liverpool since 1976 with its six salons, is encouraging hairdressers and barbers of all levels to demonstrate their talents at a special showcase at 6pm on June 20 in an attempt to celebrate the city’s inspiring hairdressing sector.
Voodou are combining their annual trainee hair competition, which attracts increasing numbers of participants year-on-year, and their coveted Stylist of the Year award with the much larger city-wide contest for stylists from other salons.
More than 500 people are expected to descend on Liverpool’s Contemporary Urban Centre for the event, which will give guests the chance to witness the high standard of work taking place within the city and also inspire any budding future hairdressers. The ticket-only night will also support Radio City’s local charity Cash for Kids, who bring hope, healing and happiness to sick and underprivileged children in Merseyside.
Managing Director of Voodou, Rob Webb, said: “After being in Liverpool for the past 35 years, we decided it would be great for the city, the business community and also for the local hairdressing industry if we invited stylists of all levels, from a variety of different salons, to take part in one big event.
“Our hope is to create a celebration of what there is to offer within our sector and recognise the talent that is currently around us. I think it is important that we actively encourage any future budding hairdressers, who are considering a career in the industry, to come and see what it is all about.”
As well as welcoming the general public, the event will also include live demonstrations from the likes of Wella, GHD and American Crew, a chance to find out the latest hair trends from industry leaders and enjoy music and entertainment from DJs, dancers and a whole lot more!
