Pamela Anderson arrives in Liverpool
Get your three wishes ready – Pamela Anderson herself has arrived in our fair city!
The blonde beauty has already promised us she will be running around the city causing some trouble, so keep your eyes peeled when out and about for the next month.
Contrary to rumours, a source has said that Pammie will be staying in Liverpool during her Panto run, and she will be looking for the closest pub where she can get some chips with vinegar!
Pamela will play The Genie of the Lamp in the Liverpool Empire's family pantomime, Aladdin, which runs for three weeks only from Friday 10th December 2010 – Sunday 2nd January 2011.
A star studded Liverpool cast will join Pamela on the Empire stage. Actor, comedian and TV personality Les Dennis, a firm favourite with Empire panto audiences, will play the loveable Wishee Washee, Mark Moraghan (Holby City, Brookside, Celebrity Masterchef, Our Day Out) is evil Abanazar and Dani Rayner (Over the Rainbow) plays Princess Jasmine. Radio City’s Pete Price as the Emperor and newcomer Marc Mulcahey as Aladdin complete this fabulous cast.
Pamela Anderson returns to panto following her enormously successful debut appearance in the same role at the New Wimbledon Theatre last year. Pamela is best known for her role as CJ Parker in the iconic TV show Baywatch. She is now a mother, an activist for PETA, an entrepreneur and actress. Pamela has appeared in the movies Barb Wire and Borat and most recently was a contestant on Dancing with the Stars, the American version of Strictly Come Dancing. Now she is set to make all of Liverpool’s Christmas wishes come true!
Aladdin follows in the footsteps of 2008’s Cinderella with Cilla Black, Jennifer Ellison and Les Dennis and 2009’s Peter Pan, which starred Henry Winkler, Les Dennis and Natasha Hamilton. This year the Liverpool Empire will once again host the North West’s top celebrity pantomime, with more than enough magic, sparkle and festive fun to keep all the family happy!
Pamela Anderson said: “I had a fantastic time performing in my very first pantomime last year in Wimbledon and I was thrilled to be invited to play the Genie once again. It will be a chance to have a lot of fun, to see some old friends and to make some new ones. In particular, I am very excited about spending more time in Liverpool. I read about it being the European Capital of Culture for 2008 - and I am a Beatles fan of course! I even had a chance to check in with my friend Henry Winkler (Captain Hook last year!) and he had nothing but great things to say about the people and the city. I am very excited –see you soon!”
Kevin Wood, Chief Executive of First Family Entertainment said: ‘We are so thrilled to be bringing Pamela Anderson to the Liverpool Empire. First Family Entertainment endeavour to bring the biggest stars in pantomime to Liverpool and have succeeded in the past two years by casting Cilla Black, Henry Winkler, and now Pamela. We loved working with her last year, she is an asset to the world of panto and I know the people of Liverpool will embrace her.’
The production will be sponsored by ROBINSONS for the second year running. The nation’s favourite family soft drink is supporting a national celebration of pantomime up and down the country and is delighted to be part of the bringing the magic of Aladdin to the stage.
