MARCO KEEPS IT LOCAL WITH NEW RESTAURANT TEAM

Marco Pierre White has handpicked a North West duo to head up his new Liverpool restaurant.

The celebrity chef’s latest venture, Marco Pierre White Steakhouse Bar and Grill, opens on Chapel Street in June as part of Sanguine Hospitality’s new £15m Hotel Indigo development

He has now appointed Peter Mills and Gary Scott to the roles of head chef and restaurant manager, respectively.

Bromborough-born Peter has almost 40 years’ experience, including four years as head chef at The Devon Doorway in Heswall. Having started his career aged just 16, Peter has worked at venues across the UK and abroad, winning AA rosettes at Wood Norton in Evesham and Stanneylands in Wilmslow, in addition to a four-year spell in Saudi Arabia.

Gary Scott joins after almost 10 years with regional restaurant group, Heathcotes, where he was responsible for the successful launch of several venues in Manchester, Preston and Liverpool, before being appointed the group’s executive operations manager. Gary, from Chorley, also spent three years as restaurant manager at Selfridge’s in the Trafford Centre.

Marco said: “The restaurant is really taking shape now and we’re beginning to see just how impressive the venue will be to our guests. We hope it will be somewhere that friends and family can gather to enjoy simple, quality food in relaxed surroundings.

“Peter and Gary are two experienced, talented individuals whom I feel sure will help us to make our mark on the city’s thriving dining scene and give the more established venues a run for their money.”

Peter said: “I’ve spent many years in the industry, working with some very fine chefs, but Marco is on another level. It will be a privilege to work alongside him as we endeavour to bring affordable glamour to the Liverpool food scene.

“This venue promises to be a huge opportunity for all those involved and I can’t wait for the restaurant to open its doors and show our customers what we can do.”

Gary added: “These are very exciting times for Sanguine Hospitality as the group continues its roll-out of high-end restaurant and hotel venues.

“Bringing together a Marco Pierre White restaurant with the boutique Hotel Indigo brand is a first for Liverpool and gives us the chance to set a high marker for similar venues planned in Newcastle, Birmingham and Manchester.”
